Climate Change - Sample Scripts
SCOTT PRUITT - Administrator of the EPA: (202) 564-4700
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I'm calling because I feel it is vital that the United States remain a signatory to the Paris Climate Agreement. Not only do I stand against an “exit” to this agreement, I am concerned that unless the Clean Power Plan is replaced with other legislation that will lead to an equal cut in carbon emissions, our country will not be able to meet the specifications of the Climate Agreement, and other countries will follow suit in not honoring their promises. This is one of the most important issues facing every person on the planet right now, and it’s critical that the US continue to lead the fight against climate change for the good of our health, well-being, and economy. Thank you for your time.
SAMPLE SCRIPTS - SENATORS
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I understand the Senate may be voting on HJ Resolution 36, and I am calling in opposition to this resolution, and in support of keeping in place the Bureau of Land Management methane waste prevention rule. Has the Senator indicated which way she/he will vote on this?
If they OPPOSE it (supporting the upholding of the rule):
Thank you very much! Please let the Senator know that this is an important issue to me and I will be watching for the vote.
If they SUPPORT it (want the rule to be struck down):
That is very disappointing to me. This strikes me as an essential protection of our health, the cleanliness of our air, and taxpayer revenue, since these are public lands. I don’t see why any of these should be partisan issues and I consider that the Senator will not be voting for the interests of her/his constituents. Thank you very much, though, for your time.
